2100.14: Executive Director of Student Services and School Safety

General Summary: ÌýDesigns, develops, implements and evaluates those programs and services in the areas ofÌýschool safety, health and response services and counseling programs; directs those student services related to studentÌýplacement, attendance, student records, suspension and expulsion, and the development or modification of appropriateÌýpolicies.

Essential Functions:

I. Designs, directs, and evaluates student health services.Ìý (10%)

II. Develops, coordinates, and supervises counseling and social work response services.Ìý (10%)

III. Develops, directs, and implements the District safety and security programs. (12%)

IV. Administers and supervises procedures for enrollment, transfer and placement of students within the school system, as per law, regulation, andÌýboard policy.Ìý (18%)

V. Administers and supervises the student attendance programs protocols, and procedures.Ìý (3%)

VI. Directs the development and implementation of all procedures regarding the collection, maintenance and dissemination of student records.Ìý (6%)

VII. Develops, directs, and implements procedures for student behavior management andÌýdiscipline within the district.Ìý (17%)

VIII. Administers and supervises the District crisis team.Ìý (2%)

IX. Prepares budget requests for all of the student service areas and monitors budgetary expenditures.Ìý (2%)

X. Serves as aÌýliaison with community organizations and agencies related to student services. (2%)

XI. Recommends selection and assignment of student services staff.Ìý (2%)

XII. Works with others in the identification and provision of those staff development activities deemed appropriate.Ìý Ìý(2%)

XIII. Evaluates student services staff in accordance with District staff evaulation procedures.Ìý (2%)

XIV. Assists with the development of board policies related to student services.Ìý (3%)

XV. Develops, directs, and implements District drug prevention programs.Ìý (2%) Ìý

XVI. Attends all School Board and Cabinet meetings.Ìý (5%)

XVII. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources.Ìý (2%)

Qualifications:

1. Education Level: A doctoral degree from an approved institution with a major in educational administration or the accepted equivalent is preferred. A six-year specialist degree in educational administration or the accepted equivalent is required.

2. Certification or Licensure: ÌýAppropriate Nebraska Administrative Certificate.

3. Experience desired: ÌýFour years of successful experience in administration with experience in student personnel services or guidance counseling; three years experience is required.

4. Other requirements: ÌýAbility to supervise student services, sensitivity to needs of students and objectives of the school district - able to work with parents, administrators and teachers.
